Our Mandate

Intimate Hotels of Barbados (IHB), a non-profit organisation, is made up of locally owned small hotels and apartments. In 2000, the IHB was established to provide marketing and other operational enhancement services for its members.  These include advisory services, advocacy and training.

Our Social Responsibility

The IHB Secretariat is a gatekeeper for the Intimate Hotels Brand. For that reason, we are currently in the process of frame-working our Corporate Social Responsibility Focus (CSR) focus around several interests to enable us to continue to build the capacity of Barbados to sustain these locally owned hotels and ensure that there is a blueprint for sustainable small locally owned hotel growth in Barbados and the Caribbean.

Our Sustainability Thrust

a multifaceted apprOach

Building a capacity for sustainability in all areas for the island’s small hoteliers is at the forefront of the work of the Secretariat and the Board of Directors for the Intimate Hotels of Barbados.

The Executive Director, Davina Layne, is adamant that the development work should be multifaceted; she has the full support of the Board and, in light of this, the IHB has many thrusts planned.

Voluntourism and Tourism Development go hand in hand

The IHB is eager to incorporate ‘Voluntourism’ into its development of the tourism product. A visitor or welcome stamper can feed their sense of global responsibility while, at the same time, learning about the culture of the island by taking part in positive tourism experiences.
